Can an ACSP Verify My Identity From Overseas?

By Deevan Naveed · October 2026 · 7 min read

International professional verifying identity through an ACSP remotely

Yes — an ACSP can verify your identity from overseas. In fact, this is one of the main reasons the ACSP route exists. If you are a director, PSC or LLP member of a UK company but live abroad, an ACSP provides a way to complete your Companies House identity verification remotely.

How overseas ACSP verification works

The process is the same as for UK-based applicants, conducted entirely online:

  1. Create an account with the ACSP
  2. Submit your personal details and company connections
  3. Upload your identity document (a foreign passport is accepted)
  4. Complete the liveness check through your device’s camera
  5. The ACSP verifies your identity and reports to Companies House
  6. You receive your 11-character personal code

There is no requirement to visit the UK, attend an office in person, or have a UK address.

Accepted overseas documents

ACSPs accept a wider range of documents than GOV.UK One Login, which makes them the primary route for international applicants. Typically accepted documents include:

  • Foreign passports from most countries
  • National identity cards from many countries
  • Foreign driving licences (varies by ACSP)

Check the specific ACSP’s requirements page for the full list. Some documents may require additional supporting evidence.

Time zones and language

Online ACSPs typically operate across time zones, so you can start your verification at a time that suits you. The process is conducted in English, as Companies House is a UK institution. Your identity document does not need to be in English, but you may need to provide a translation or transliteration for certain fields.

Common challenges for overseas applicants

  • Name transliteration: if your name is written in a non-Latin script on your document, there may be differences in how it appears on the Companies House register. Resolve these before starting.
  • Address verification: some ACSPs may ask for proof of your overseas address
  • Internet connectivity: the liveness check requires a stable internet connection and a device with a camera

Cost for overseas applicants

Companies House ID Verification charges the same fixed £19 fee for all applicants, whether UK-based or overseas. There are no additional charges for international verifications.
