Companies House PSC Verification Deadline Explained
By Deevan Naveed · October 2026 · 8 min read

The Companies House PSC verification deadline is not a single date for every PSC. The system uses individual 14-day windows within a transition period, with November 2026 as the overall backstop. This guide explains how the deadlines work.
The transition period
Identity verification for PSCs began on 18 November 2025 with the commencement of the relevant ECCTA provisions. Rather than requiring all PSCs to verify on a single date, Companies House has introduced a phased transition. Each PSC has their own 14-day window during which they must provide their personal code.
How the 14-day windows work
Your individual 14-day window depends on your circumstances:
- PSC who is also a director of the same company: your window starts the day after the company’s confirmation statement date
- PSC who is not a director of that company: your window is typically the first 14 days of your birth month
- PSC of multiple companies: you may have different windows for different companies
These rules are set out in the official Companies House deadline guidance.
New PSCs (appointed after 18 November 2025)
If you became a PSC after 18 November 2025, you must verify your identity before or shortly after your appointment is registered. There is no extended transition period for new PSCs — verification is effectively immediate.
The November 2026 backstop
Regardless of individual windows, all existing PSCs must have completed verification by November 2026. After this date, any PSC who has not verified will face enforcement action. This backstop ensures that no one can avoid verification by claiming their individual window has not yet arrived.
Filing a confirmation statement early
Some companies may consider filing their confirmation statement early. However, filing early does not move a PSC’s verification window. The window is determined by the confirmation statement date as recorded, not the date the statement is actually filed.
What to do now
You can complete identity verification at any time — you do not have to wait for your 14-day window to begin. In fact, verifying early is strongly recommended. It ensures your personal code is ready when you need to provide it and gives you time to resolve any issues.
