How Much Does Companies House Identity Verification Cost?

Documents and pricing information for Companies House verification

The cost of Companies House identity verification depends on the route you take. Here is a clear breakdown of what each option costs, so you can make an informed decision.

GOV.UK One Login: free

The direct government route, GOV.UK One Login, is free. You verify yourself using a UK passport or UK driving licence through the government’s online service. There is no charge from Companies House or from GOV.UK.

However, this route has limitations. It only accepts UK passports and UK driving licences. If you hold an international passport, have no UK driving licence, or need assistance with the process, you will need to use an alternative route.

Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP): varies

ACSPs are approved agents who carry out identity checks on behalf of Companies House. Each ACSP sets its own fee. Costs vary widely - from under £20 to several hundred pounds, depending on the provider and the level of service.

Some ACSPs bundle identity verification with other company services such as formations or annual compliance. Others offer standalone verification at a fixed price.

Companies House ID Verification: fixed £19

Companies House ID Verification charges a fixed £19 per person. This covers:

  • A guided online verification process
  • Identity document and liveness checks
  • Support for UK and international documents
  • Personal code guidance after verification
  • Email support throughout

There are no hidden fees, no upsells and no tiered pricing. Every applicant pays the same amount for the same complete service. See the pricing page for full details.

Do you need to pay for each company?

No. Verification is per person, not per company. You verify your identity once, receive one personal code, and then link that code to every role you hold. If you are a director of three companies, you pay for one verification - but you must provide your code separately for each directorship.

Are there additional government fees?

Companies House does not charge a fee for issuing your personal code. The only cost is the verification itself - either free through GOV.UK One Login or through the ACSP fee if you use a service provider.

Which option is right for you?

Choose GOV.UK One Login if you have a UK passport or UK driving licence, are comfortable with self-service technology, and do not need assistance.

Choose an ACSP such as Companies House ID Verification if you hold an international passport, prefer guided assistance, or want the process handled for you. At £19, it is one of the most affordable ACSP options available.
