How to Find Your Companies House Personal Code

Person searching for their Companies House personal code

If you have already verified your identity but cannot find your Companies House personal code, this guide covers the most common places to look and what to do if you still cannot locate it.

Where was your code sent?

Your personal code was delivered through the service you used to verify:

  • GOV.UK One Login - your code should be visible in your GOV.UK One Login account after verification
  • An ACSP - your code was sent via the ACSP’s service, typically by email or through their account portal

Check your email

Search your inbox for emails from Companies House, your ACSP or the verification service you used. Try searching for terms like “personal code”, “verification complete” or “Companies House”. Check your spam and junk folders as well.

Check the verification service account

If you verified through an ACSP, log in to the account you created with them. Your personal code may be displayed in your account dashboard or verification history.

Check your GOV.UK One Login account

If you used GOV.UK One Login, sign in to your account at the Companies House online service. Your personal code should be accessible there after successful verification.

Check your records

If you wrote your personal code down or saved it in a document or password manager, check those locations. Many people record the code when they first receive it and then forget where they stored it.

What if you cannot find it?

If you have exhausted all the above options:

  • Contact your ACSP - if you verified through an ACSP, they should be able to help you retrieve or confirm your code
  • Contact Companies House - Companies House may be able to reissue or help you recover your personal code
  • Do not re-verify unnecessarily - check all options before starting a new verification, as you should already have a code on record

Prevent losing it again

Once you locate your code, store it securely in a password manager, a locked note, or another secure location. You will need it for future filings, so having it accessible saves time and stress.

If you have not yet verified and need to obtain your personal code for the first time, start your verification with Companies House ID Verification.
